Stacy Miller’s professional experience in public, private and non-profit government relations, community affairs, communications, and public relations extends over 17 years and provides a broad base of expertise that has led multiple organizations and clients to achieve, and surpass their strategic goals.
Stacy has a stellar track record of developing, cultivating and maintaining relationships with hundreds of elected and appointed officials at the state and national level and has successfully collaborated with community groups, legislative officials, organizational boards and the media to increase the presence and perception of her clients and previous employers.
Background
Stacy developed and implemented a comprehensive External Relations Program for one of the largest early education non-profit organizations in the State of California — The Child Care Resource Center (CCRC), an agency with over 500 employees and an annual budget of $120 million.
The departments Stacy launched during her seven year tenure at CCRC — Government Affairs, Community & Public Relations, Fund Development and Marketing — now serve as models at the local, state and national levels. Stacy was also responsible for the development and implementation of the agency’s highly successful five-year strategic plan and managed and oversaw the design and marketing of a comprehensive website.
In addition Stacy was a key player in legislative and advocacy efforts at the regional, state and federal levels during multiple budget cycles and also successfully executed numerous crisis management campaigns aimed at preventing and/or mitigating negative community, media and legislative attention.
Earlier, as the Intergovernmental Relations Officer for the City of Santa Clarita, the fourth-largest city in Los Angeles County, Stacy developed and ran the city’s legislative and governmental affairs program. In that capacity, she advised the city council and city manager on issues related to government affairs, community relations and public policy. She also served as the city’s lead spokesperson on matters of local, regional, state and federal significance.
While serving in that role, Stacy acted as the government affairs and community engagement project manager during the city’s battle against the Cemex mining company — in addition to assisting in the development of a successful legislative strategy to fund $250 million in infrastructure improvements for the Cross Valley Connector roadway.
Stacy also served as an analyst in the City’s Economic Development Division, implementing economic development strategies including business development and business retention programs. She also served as liaison between the business community and the city, investigating and analyzing development patterns to determine demographic and relocation trends.
Stacy’s public affairs career began in the corporate relations division at Sunkist Growers, serving as special assistant to the Vice President of Government Affairs, Public Relations, and Member Relations. There, Stacy assisted in the development and implementation of member engagement and media relations campaigns, analyzing and interpreting political trends, and administering Sunkist’s political action campaign. During Stacy’s tenure, Sunkist faced multiple government and public relations crises, including the med-fly invasion, multiple crop freezes and the challenge of federal marketing orders at the national level.
